every question about pluto, the Minecraft: Java Edition client, with its answer. new here? start with what pluto is.
general
what is pluto?
pluto is a client for Minecraft: Java Edition, made by foxipuff. it's built on Fabric for windows, macos and linux, lives in the game, updates itself every time you play, and comes as stable or nightly.
what's in it right now?
the launcher and updates are in. the in-game interface is being built now, and modules come after it, reaching nightly before stable. follow along on Discord.
what are modules?
modules are the individual features that run on top of the launcher. nightly gets new ones first. later versions are planned to let players make their own.
who makes pluto?
foxipuff, independently. pluto isn't affiliated with Mojang, Microsoft or any server.
is pluto the same as other projects called pluto client?
no. pluto is made by foxipuff and lives at pluto.lgbt. it isn't affiliated with the open-source Pluto-Client repository on GitHub, or with any other project with a similar name.
is it open source?
no.
how do i report a bug or suggest something?
on Discord or by email. nightly also lets you send feedback on test builds.
where do i get help?
on Discord, or at contact@pluto.lgbt. we're around monday to friday, 09:00 to 18:00 CET, and usually reply within two business days.
rules
can i get banned for using it?
it's possible. every server sets its own rules about client mods, so read them before you play.
which servers allow pluto?
we can't say for any server. rules change, and we can't see them. ask the server's staff if you're unsure.
what happens if a server bans me?
that's between you and the server, and we can't lift or influence it. a ban isn't by itself a reason for a refund, and it doesn't affect any right you have by law if we fail to deliver what you paid for.
is pluto against Minecraft's rules?
the Minecraft EULA and what servers allow change over time, and you're responsible for checking them. pluto is independent and not affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft.
what if my account is suspended?
a suspension isn't a ban: a person reviews it. sign in to your dashboard, where you'll see your case reference and can appeal. you can also write to support with the reference.
pluto stopped and showed a reference. what now?
quote it when you contact support. it names the report, so we can find what stopped it.
privacy
does pluto scan my computer?
no. it checks itself: that it hasn't been modified, debugged or injected into. those checks run on your computer, and a short report is sent only if one fails. it doesn't read your files or list your programs. the privacy policy lists exactly what a report contains.
can pluto see my chat or screen?
no. it doesn't collect your chat, keystrokes, screen or the servers you join.
what data do you keep?
account details, hashes of four machine identifiers, records of logins, resets and build downloads, and a short error code if the client spots tampering. never the servers you join, your playtime, your chat or your screen. the privacy policy has the full list.
do you sell my data or track me on the website?
no. we don't sell personal data, and the site has no advertising trackers or analytics scripts.
do you store my payment details?
no. third-party processors handle payments. we never see card numbers, bank details or wallet seeds.
how do i delete my account and data?
email us with your username and we'll reply within a month. erasing data that an active license depends on ends the license. the privacy policy lists your rights and how long each record is kept.
before you buy
do i need to own Minecraft?
yes, your own copy of Minecraft: Java Edition. pluto doesn't replace it.
what do i need installed?
Fabric Loader, Fabric API, and the Java version your Minecraft needs (Java 25 on current versions). pluto runs as a Fabric mod.
which versions and systems does it run on?
Minecraft: Java Edition, on the latest versions, on windows, macos and linux. the launcher picks the right build for your system and chip.
does it work in a virtual machine?
no. pluto binds your license to your real hardware, so virtual machines aren't supported.
how old do i have to be?
18 or older.
is pluto available in my country?
in most places. it isn't available where sanctions law forbids it, and sign-ups are checked by country.
can i buy it yet?
not yet. checkout isn't open, so nobody can buy a plan or be charged. join the Discord to hear when it opens.
using it
stable or nightly?
stable gets tested releases. nightly gets new builds, modules and compatibility updates first, and lets you send feedback on test builds.
can i switch between stable and nightly?
nightly includes stable, so on nightly you can pick either one in the launcher. on stable you can upgrade to nightly at any time and pay the difference.
how do updates work?
automatically. the launcher fetches your build every time you open it and keeps the two newest. older builds warn you before they stop working.
what happens when Minecraft updates?
nightly gets compatibility updates within a few days. stable gets them later, once they've been tested. versions the game no longer supports aren't guaranteed.
how do i know a build is genuine?
every release is signed for its channel, and the launcher checks that signature before anything starts. revoked builds won't run.
how many computers can i use?
one computer per license, and one game session at a time. your license binds on your first login.
what counts as changing computers?
your license is tied to four hardware identifiers. one can change, like a replaced part, and pluto keeps working. if several change at once, like on a new computer, reset the binding from your dashboard. you can do that once every 7 days.
do i need an internet connection?
yes. pluto signs you in at launch and checks in every few minutes while you play. if it can't reach us for a while, it stops.
how big is the download?
a few megabytes. the launcher is under 1 MB and a build is about 6 MB.
where do i find release notes?
in your dashboard. the builds page lists every build with its notes.
billing
how does billing work?
monthly or yearly, renewing until you cancel. cancel any time and you keep access until the end of the term you paid for. upgrades cost the difference; downgrades start at your next renewal.
how do i cancel?
in one click from your account, or by email, with no reason needed. access continues to the end of the term you paid for.
can i get a refund?
in several cases: you were charged by mistake, pluto doesn't work as described, or we end a plan you paid for. in the EU and UK you agree at checkout to immediate delivery, which ends the 14-day withdrawal right once delivery starts, but your statutory rights stay. see the refund policy.
do prices include VAT?
yes. prices include VAT.
is there a free trial?
no.
i forgot my password.
use "forgot?" on the login page and we'll email you a six-digit code.
can i change my username or profile picture?
yes, from your account page. a rename needs your password and works once every 30 days, and your old name is held for you for 45 days. a profile picture is optional and isn't shown to other players.
can i share or sell my license?
no. a license is for one person and one computer, and can't be lent, sold or transferred.
